Di Collins is an Aboriginal woman originally from Condobolin, Central Western
NSW, Wiradjuri country but has been living in the Queanbeyan/ACT area for 18
years. Ms Collins has worked in the Public Service for some 19 years primarily
in Indigenous Affairs.
Di has 4 children aged 23, 18, 14 and 9 years, all males, and grandchildren
- a baby girl and Kobe aged 3 years and Kaine aged 2 months old.
Di Collins’ primary interests are in education, women and youth, and
she enjoys watching sport, playing bingo and travelling. Di’s passions
include supporting her children through their journey in life, being a role
model, and listening to other people.
Ms Collins experiences are in the commonwealth public sector with areas such
as human resources, leadership and community engagement and at the community
level in areas such as National Aboriginal & Islander Day Observance Committee
(NAIDOC), ACT Indigenous Education Consultative Board (IECB), and the ACT Indigenous
Elected Body (IEB), whISPers Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Softball
Club, and Boomanulla Raiderette’s Netball.
Employment
Di is currently employed by the Department of Families, Housing, Community
Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) within the Indigenous Leadership &
Engagement Group. She is the Senior Project Officer in the Representative Body
Branch. Di’s duties in this position include assisting with consultations
throughout Australia on the establishment of a National Indigenous Representative
Body.
Di also makes a positive contribution to the ACT Community through various
positions she has held on various boards and committees in a voluntary capacity.
These include NAIDOC, Reconciliation, Education, Sport, and Women.

1991/1992 - Associate Diploma in Adult Education (Aboriginal) at University
of Technology, Sydney
2006 – Certificate 2 in Indigenous Leadership with the Australian Indigenous
Leadership Centre
2008 - Certificate 4 in Business (Governance) with Office of Registrar of Indigenous
